airis:ident End User Terms of Use
Last updated: February 2026
These End User Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the airis:ident verification services (the “Verification Services”) provided by irisnet GmbH (“Irisnet”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
The Verification Services are made available to you because an organisation, platform, or service you are interacting with (the “Customer”) requires you to complete a verification. The Customer determines why the verification is required and how the Customer uses the verification result.
By accessing or using the Verification Services, you confirm that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Verification Services.
These Terms should be read together with our Verification Privacy Notice, which explains how we process personal data when you use the Verification Services.
1) Who we are
Provider:
irisnet GmbH
Niederkasseler Lohweg 175
40547 Düsseldorf
Germany
Contact: [email protected]
Data Protection Officer: [email protected]
Brand name: Our identification services are offered under the brand airis:ident.
2) Definitions
- “Verification Services” means the services we provide to perform (i) Identity Verification (ID document check and selfie face match), (ii) Proof of Address Check, and/or (iii) AI-based Age Estimation, as enabled by the Customer.
- “Customer” means the organisation, platform, or service that requires you to complete a verification using the Verification Services.
- “You” / “User” means the end user completing a verification.
- “Input” means any images, documents, selfies, information, or materials you submit during the verification process.
- “Result” means the output of a verification process (for example pass/fail outcomes, confidence signals, extracted document data where relevant, and/or age estimation outputs).
- “Interface” means any web flow, SDK-based user interface, or other technical interface used to capture Inputs and deliver Results for the Verification Services.
3) What the Verification Services do (scope)
The Verification Services are limited to:
- Identity Verification (ID document checks and selfie face match to the ID),
- Proof of Address Check (supporting documents such as a bank statement or utility bill), and
- AI-based Age Estimation (selfie-based estimation and/or threshold outcome).
4) No end-user account / no customer portal
The Verification Services do not provide an end-user account, profile, or portal. You are not creating an Irisnet account, and you will not have an Irisnet dashboard to view past verifications.
5) Relationship with the Customer (important)
You are completing verification for the Customer. Irisnet provides the Verification Services and returns the Result to the Customer (typically via API).
- The Customer decides whether you may proceed (e.g., access a service, create an account, or satisfy age requirements).
- Irisnet does not control the Customer’s decision-making, policies, or retention after the Customer receives the Result.
- If you have questions about why verification is required or why a specific decision was made, you need to contact the Customer.
6) Your responsibilities
By using the Verification Services, you agree that:
- You will provide accurate Inputs. You will not submit false, misleading, or manipulated information.
- You will only submit your own documents and images (unless the Customer’s process explicitly allows you to act on behalf of someone else, and you have legal authority to do so).
- You will not attempt to circumvent the verification process, including by using altered documents, deepfakes, masks, screen replays, impersonation, or any other spoofing technique.
- You will follow instructions shown in the Interface (e.g., lighting, framing, document capture requirements).
- You will not interfere with the service, including by introducing malware, attempting unauthorised access, scraping, reverse engineering, or disrupting the Interface.
7) Prohibited use
You must not (and must not attempt to):
- submit forged, altered, stolen, or otherwise unlawful documents;
- submit a selfie or image of someone else, or use any tool to impersonate someone else;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Verification Services;
- interfere with security-related features, rate limits, or anti-abuse mechanisms;
- use the Verification Services for any unlawful purpose;
- copy, modify, translate, create derivative works from, reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract source code or underlying models from the Interface or Verification Services, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
If we detect suspected abuse or fraud, we may refuse to process your verification attempt and/or flag the attempt to the Customer, where appropriate and permitted.
8) Privacy and data protection
Our processing of personal data in connection with the Verification Services is described in the airis:ident Verification Privacy Notice (the “Privacy Notice”). The Privacy Notice forms part of these Terms by reference.
To understand how the Customer uses your data and Results after receiving them, you should consult the Customer’s own privacy notice.
9) Subprocessors and third-party providers
We use carefully selected third-party service providers (“subprocessors”) to help provide, operate, and secure the Verification Services (for example infrastructure, security, and verification technology).
Information about our subprocessors is maintained in our contractual documentation for customers (including the subprocessor table referenced in our MSA/DPA materials). Where required by law, we ensure appropriate safeguards and contractual protections with subprocessors.
10) Results, limitations, and no guarantee of outcome
10.1 Verification is probabilistic and may be imperfect
Identity checks, document authenticity checks, and AI-based age estimation involve automated analysis and may produce false positives or false negatives in some cases.
10.2 We do not guarantee acceptance by the Customer
Even if a Result indicates a successful verification, the Customer may still decide to decline your request for reasons outside our control (e.g., business rules, compliance requirements, risk policies).
10.3 Age estimation is an estimate
If the Customer uses AI-based Age Estimation, you acknowledge that it provides an estimate based on the submitted image and conditions of capture, and may be inaccurate in some cases.
11) Fees
Irisnet does not charge end users a fee to use the Verification Services. Any fees you may pay (if any) are determined by the Customer and are outside Irisnet’s control.
Your mobile network operator or internet provider may charge you for data usage depending on your plan.
12) Availability and changes
We aim to provide the Verification Services reliably, but the Verification Services are provided on an “as available” basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Verification Services at any time (for example for maintenance, security, or technical reasons).
We may also update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will apply from the time it is made available to you in the verification flow.
13) Intellectual property
The Verification Services, Interface, and all related software, documentation, and materials are owned by Irisnet or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Interface solely for completing the verification process for the Customer.
Except for this limited right, no rights are granted to you.
14) Your Inputs
You retain any rights you may have in your Inputs, but you grant Irisnet a limited right to process your Inputs solely to:
- perform the verification,
- generate and deliver Results to the Customer, and
- operate, secure, and improve the Verification Services in line with the Privacy Notice and applicable law.
You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to provide the Inputs and that doing so does not violate applicable law or the rights of any third party.
15) Suspension / refusal
We may refuse to process a verification attempt or limit access to the Verification Services if we reasonably believe that:
- the verification attempt involves fraud, abuse, or prohibited use,
- the Inputs are inconsistent, incomplete, or technically unusable, or
- doing so is necessary for security, legal compliance, or service integrity.
If you cannot complete verification, please contact the Customer for next steps.
16) Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We do not warrant that the Verification Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available.
- We do not warrant that any Result will be accurate in all cases or that it will meet the Customer’s requirements.
- The Verification Services are not legal advice, compliance advice, or a guarantee of identity, address, or age.
Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you may have that cannot be excluded or limited.
17) Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Subject to that:
- We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intent or gross negligence, and for injury to life, body, or health.
- In cases of slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (a “cardinal duty”), and liability is limited to damages that are typical and foreseeable.
- Otherwise, our liability is excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Because the Verification Services are provided in the context of your relationship with the Customer, Irisnet is not liable for:
- the Customer’s decisions, actions, or omissions,
- the Customer’s use or storage of Results, or
- your inability to access the Customer’s service.
18) Complaints and support
If you need help completing verification, you should first contact the Customer support team of the service you are trying to access, as the Customer controls the overall user journey.
You can also contact Irisnet at [email protected] for technical issues relating to the verification flow, and [email protected] for privacy-related questions.
19) Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
20) Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding its conflict of laws rules.
If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country where you reside.
Where legally permitted, the courts in Düsseldorf, Germany shall have jurisdiction.
